Happy Friday everyone! Finally it’s the weekend and I for one am ready to hang up my apron and head out to a restaurant to have someone else do the cooking!
However, this is sadly not an approach we can all enjoy every weekend with all the other expenses in our lives.
So rather than kiss goodbye to weekend family meals out, I’ve put together a few tips that’ll have you heading out for a frugal Friday feed.
It’s My Birthday!
We all deserve a treat when it comer to our birthday dinner but if you join your favorite restaurant’s birthday club, not only could you enjoy a complimentary meal on your special day but also perks like coupons for free appetizers monthly! So get online and see which restaurants near you offer a birthday club and you’ll be shaving dollars off your bill regularly.
Who’s for Happy Hour?
If you don’t have any time restrictions on your night out why not plan your evening around the times you will receive discounted prices. Many places will host a happy hour period when special deals will be on offer making your Friday a little more frugal. It’s also a good idea to look into what times kids eat free at your usual haunts and hey if you aren’t that hungry, and the restaurant allows it, go ahead and order from the kids menu too – not only will you be saving on the check but for those counting calories the reduced portion size won’t encroach on your diet plan!
Coupons Coupons Coupons!
Do you have an entertainment coupon book for your area? If not seriously consider getting one – they’re a great way to eat out for less. Ok so they might cost you around $40 at the start of the year but in return you’ll receive hundreds of dollars worth of coupons for discounts and buy-one-get-one-free style deals!
My Gift to Me
Who says gift cards have to be given to others? If you know you’re going to be eating out at a particular restaurant, consider heading down there before the big night and buying a gift card to pay for your meal – lots of places will pop an additional sum of money onto your total for free, meaning you can eat more and pay less!
The Perks of Being a Member
Next time you’re paying the check, pull out your AAA or AARP membership card, you never know you might just be entitled to a discount for being a member – no harm in asking!
Timing is Everything
Lots of big cities will have an annual, or even twice-annual, Restaurant Week in which many restaurants will participate offering discounted prices. This is a week when you can indulge in a three course, white tablecloth, fancy meal for a reasonable price. So check out online, if and when your city participates in Restaurant Week and make your bookings accordingly.
Fill Out the Form
Another fast and easy way to sink your teeth into a reasonably priced dinner is simply by filling out a customer satisfaction survey after your meal. As little as a few comments and opinions here and there can result in a free menu item on your next visit!
So this weekend take a bit out of some of these tips and dine for a dime…or you know, a lot less anyway!

These are some good tips. I will have to try some of them out. The new look of the website is nice. I will definitely be taking more advantage of happy hour in the future.

Thank you Juliet! The message I hope to get through is that being financially savvy is not about denial or punishment- but a way to live the life you want for the long haul!
