This Saturday, 1200 people in the Mid-Atlantic region of the country will not be sleeping in, or hitting the mall or going out to brunch. They are investing the day to become more financially aware. The Delaware financial Literacy Institute, of which I am a board member, is holding its bi-annual Purses to Portfolio’s conference. I have been involved with this event since 2006 and can tell you from experience there is no better way to get fired up about money skills. The event is free and so is the great food and drink they offer throughout the day. I commend Ronni Cohen and her small staff at DFLI for pulling together a world class event. No matter where you live there is an organization that offers high quality financial education. There is no excuse for not educating yourself. If we’ve learned nothing from the last few years, ignorance about money skills is NOT bliss! If you can’t find a class near you, then take advantage of DFLI’s online courses offered through their Money School. Here is a link:
Find time this weekend to educate yourself on one small money issue- one that has been nagging you. Don’t wait for the money fairy to visit you or prince charming to hand deliver that winning lottery ticket. It is not happening! Become your own best advocate for financial freedom. It possible and it is not too late.
